Blog #9 Plagiarism
Perhaps she used too many direct quotes or cited incorrectly. I think she was plagiarizing by accident. Everything just was an accident, a mistake, and a screw up.

1. I am now the leader (w/ my friend) of my Church's acapella group.
2. My pastor had to leave the ministry to fill in as the pastor of another ministry.
3. I made a video for him.
4. I found out that I pissed off a girl and I apologized profusely.
5. I worked on my essay.

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/22/acupunture-is-safe-in-children/?ref=health

Acupuncture for children has been declared safe. The side effects of pediatric acupuncture has been put down as minimal and mild. The more serious side effects are rare. Now, the very beneficial effects of acupuncture is now officially acceptable for children.
I think that this is great. Acupuncture is a great way to solve bodily problems without the use of drugs. Now that acupuncture has been declared safe for children, I expect that this procedure will be used more and more for pediatrics and a little more good will happen in this world.

Blog #6 Animal
I would be a lamb. I would have no responsibilities. I do not even have to choose when to eat or stop eating. A shepherd takes care of me, protects me, and herds me. My wool makes beautiful clothing and I will eventually be made into a delicious, nutritious meal for my human overlords. Life is simple and easy.

Blog #5 The best thing about this week was...
I aced my math test today. Oh yeah! Holla! If I got anything less than 100%, I would be surprised. I am nearly CERTAIN that I had everything right. Too bad it was only 24 points. The other one was around 50 I think.

Blog #3 - Courage
Courage is the steadfastness of the heart to do what is right. Will your courage break at refusing to cheat or will your courage break at refusing to steal? It is often not what you WILL do that makes you courageous, but what you will NOT do. For while one moment of courage as you step into the ring with the Goliath is amazing, so is, if not more so, the constant battle of fighting your desires. Even King David was not courageous enough to keep himself from having Uriah killed in battle and then marrying his widowed wife.

Blog #2 My Scarlet Letter
F for Foolish. I am not stupid, but I'm foolish. I know what I should do, why I should do it, and how I should do it, but I don't. My knowledge and wisdom could extend beyond anyone else's, but if my actions remain as those of a fool, then, while I may not be a fool, I am foolish. Opportunities are present in my life and I could reach as high I want in any aspect of my life, but I am shackled by my foolish decisions and lack of will power to change.

MP 2 Blog #1: How are love and hate alike?
Love and hate are two ends of a spectrum. In the spectrum of light, the longer waves are infrared and the shorter waves are ultraviolet. In the spectrum of passion, the positive waves are love and the negative waves are hate. However, just as all waves in the spectrum of light are lights, all the waves of the spectrum of passion are passions. Neither love nor hate are content in being lukewarm; they are either non-existant or burning with intensity. That's why people say "love" and "hate" are strong words.

A judge's daughter posted a video online of her father beating her when she was sixteen. The judge said that he was only disciplining her for downloading illegal music. Actually, his actions were completely legal, but he did use a belt to hit her daughter. He claims that his daughter, now an adult, only posted this video because he cut her off financially. The controversy arises now about discipline and abuse and what builds character and causes damage.
Honestly, I am not against corporal punishment. If it is not used too often, then its effects could put emphasis on the message the parents want to get across. However, if it is used as an outlet and stress and it is used to punish everything a child does wrong, then its effect of emphasis wears off and it becomes an obsolete corrective measure and a damaging emotional and physical scar. Especially in today's watered-down community, negative reinforcement has become almost taboo. Perhaps the reason many adults now complain about the lack of respect children have nowadays is that they no longer properly discipline them.

Discussion
From our last discussion, we talked about the woman who was abducted by the Somalians and died. The situation was tragic. I feel that it was a horrid experience for both the woman who had to experience it and the people who felt that they had to do that to her. All of them were probably very scared. We can only hope that the world becomes a better place so that situations such as this never reoccur.

http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/27/spending-more-doesnt-make-us-healthier/?ref=opinion

This article talked about how the writer thinks that America is spending too much on health care. Because there is no actual way to measure if we are spending too much on a scale of 1-10, he compared our spendings to the spendings of other countries on... everything. America spends around the same amount of money on health care as about half of what other countries spend on everything. Countries that have around the same quality of health care are spending so much less on health care than America.
Everyone, Democrats and Republicans, agree that America has a problem in its health care spendings and those numbers prove that there is a problem. However, despite our rare occurence of agreement in government, few people really understands our health care plans comprehensively. The question is where to reduce the spendings in health care. I have very little understanding of the health care so I do not have an opinion on how to fix the problem, but I do understand that there is a problem.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/20/sports/seemingly-ordinary-football-game-then-a-player-dies.html?_r=1&ref=health
Barden died while playing at a football game. He was one of several teenagers to die in a specific way at football games. Basically, he hit his head on another person's head and his brain began to bleed. He collapsed on the field and was unable to get up. He was disoriented and weak at first, but his condition worsened quickly. He was taken to a hospital, but he died after a few hours. This incident brought attention to the safety conditions of football. While coaches and officials try to bring the best and safest equipment and train their athletes thoroughly, some problems just cannot be stopped by protection and caution. Teenagers are especially susceptible to such cranial damage because their brains are not yet fully developed.
Honestly, I look at this situation and I see two outstanding facts: one, football kills and two, we can't stop it with our equipments. There are two choices: let it happen or stop football, at least in high school where the danger is higher. The judgement of which choices are better depends on what people consider more important: a single human life or the enjoyment of the sport of football. Honestly, I think this really is an indecisive situation where one choice is nearly impossible, the notion of shutting down football, and the other looks unhopeful, where equipment will be developed to protect them properly. So, for now, this problem will remain.

The Police have found around $16,000 worth of illegal narcotics and a semi-automatic handgun in the apartment of Alvin Jones. Of course, it is easy to see this man as a wretched drug-dealer who received his due punishment or even to look at his parents with condescension and judge them to be awful caretakers of their children. However, one can never truly pin the responsibility to a man for his actions because the man’s personality and characteristics were largely shaped by those who raised him, the environment he grew up in, and the genetic coding in his cells, which may encourage certain unfavorable habits, emotions, and affinities. Moreover, even parents who raise their children poorly are exempt from full condemnation because influences, which affect their child-rearing skills besides their own will, are always present. While many believe otherwise, no man is truly an individual who is free from any extrinsic circumstances, which adulterate his purely self-made and maintained mind. Therefore, in situations such as those of Alvin, though I only assume his up-bringing to have been inadequate, we can only have sympathy as those whose situations in life are more fortunate than his.

Appetizer: Technology
Cellphones are an important component to my life. As friendship and love are the strings that connect one heart to another, cell phones are the wireless signal that puts me through to my friends in an instant. Cell phones provide a way to focus purely on speaking and passing information and thoughts. While face-to-face confrontations are a great way to communicate, they can lead to other activities which lead away from a conversation. This talking that occurs through the phone is unadulterated, undistracted, and unbound by the necessity of close proximities.

Self Reliance
Often, countries and groups of people desire to be self-sufficient to be able to stand by themselves without another's support. However, while this is a very secure, prudent course of action for a people, I do not think that this is a very wise decision for a person. Humans were meant to be social, and in relation to one another. I embrace a social lifestyle very heartily, in moderation of course, heartily in moderation. I depend heavily on my friends to sate my social desires, but I am also reserved enough to take any fluctuations or strife that may arise for me socially. People need people, but also themselves. Relationships between one another are like walking on a tightrope. If you are going to walk the walk, then have the precaution of setting up a safety net for yourselves.

Appetizer #3: Quote By Nathaniel Hawthorne
- "Words -- so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them."
Words are more than enunciations and pronunciations created and shaped by the tongue, vocal cords, and lungs. More than ink inscribed into specific patterns, figures, and shapes. Those things are mere manifestations of the intangible knowledge blooming to existence. Words are the medium through which the wellspring of information, knowledge, and wisdom is passed from one to another. Also, they are the conduit for the expression of emotion, whether positive or negative.
A spiteful word can create animosity which can cause one to murder another. A kind word can take save somebody from taking his own life. There is great power whether for salvation or damnation in the core of words.

Memoir Title
Trying to Be Better. I would name my book this because that is one of the most prominent actions of my life. The reason I try is because I have a standard which I will probably never live to reach, but with every step closer, I relish my success and see where I can improve more.
